The PinPoint Interlaboratory Split Sample (P.I.S.S.) Challenge was created to help clinical and forensic laboratories ensure accuracy and reliability of their laboratory testing. When commercially available proficiency tests (PT) are not available, CLIA certified labs often have a gap in testing the robustness of their quality systems. Alternative Assessment using split sample analysis can fill that void by comparing results of a reference laboratory to other participating laboratories.

The P.I.S.S. Challenge facilitated by PinPoint Testing’s COLA/CLIA laboratory is an interlaboratory blinded split sample competency test. Participating commercial laboratories test blinded urine samples containing over 160 spiked drugs split among them. Labs return positive results to a PinPoint data analyst with their confirmed concentrations of observed drugs in a templated format. Results are tallied, and labs are provided a full report comparing their results to peer labs within 30 days.
